ISLAMABAD - Militants holding up in Lal Masjid are heavily equipped with arms and ammunition and thus endangering the lives of hundreds of students inside the mosque, said Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao while addressing a news conference here on Saturday.
He said that the operation against the miscreants inside the Lal Masjid could be completed in few hours but the government wanted to evacuate the innocent students who were taken as hostage.
âThe presence of large number of students inside the Lal Masjid has compelled the law enforcement agencies to show maximum restrain,â he said. He said Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz had also directed the law enforcement agencies in a meeting to end the operation as soon as possible but also to ensure minimum loss of human lives. <!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
