As the things stand at present, we have to accept Pakistan as our neighbour in the West. The most fundamental problem in India Pakistan relationship has been Kashmir.All other problems created by Pakistan for us is directly connected to this problem.Therefore, it is necessary to resolve this problem and all other things will fall in place.So far it has remained unresilved due to a variety of reasons. Since the creation of Pakistan, USA and the West have played God Father to Pakistan till the collapse of USSR. This attitude of the West is responsible for Pakistan's adament and rigid attitude and rather unwillingness to come to an amicable settlement of Kashmir issue. It is only recently after the 9/11 attack on the USA that Pakistan is realising that its attitude towards India needs to be changed and hence the progress in the present peace process.
