ISLAMABAD : Justifying increases in the prices of petroleum products and electricity during the PPP-led regime, the World Bank (WB) said on Tuesday that Pakistan would have gone bankrupt had it not placed a mechanism for raising tariffs of the energy sector in line with the trends existing in the international market.
While pointing out major macroeconomic challenges in the wake of uneven growth path and rising poverty, the WB unveiled its plan to provide $6.5 billion to Islamabadââ¬â¢s struggling economy under the forthcoming Country Assistance Strategy (CAS) for four years, 2010-2013
