Pakistan receives $1.2bn payment from IMF
KARACHI: Pakistan has received $1.2 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the fourth tranche of an emergency loan facility agreed upon last year, the central bank said on Tuesday.
ââ¬ÅWe received $1.2 billion from the IMF on December 28,ââ¬Â State Bank of Pakistan chief spokesman Syed Wasimuddin said.
The IMF increased its loan to Pakistan to $11.3 billion in July under an economic programme first agreed upon in November 2008, to avert a balance of payments crisis.
The IMF had initially provided a $7.6 billion emergency loan package to Pakistan. reuters
