Contrary to your general impression that it is only the Babusââ¬â¢ who get the cut in defence deals, it is other way round. No medium or large defence deal can take place in India without an active role being played by the political bosses. The general characteristics of the politicians irrespective of their political affiliation are almost identical. Therefore, to single out the bureaucrat or the politicians of a particular political party is not correct.
The decision making process in respect of defence procurement will have to be a part of the present movement being undertaken by the Civil Society to remove corruption from our public life. You cannot improve the defence procurement process in isolation.
