That apart, the day for the Speaker remained packed with coveted political attention; the first bouquet of wishes for the Lok Sabha Speaker on his birthday came from UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
It was meanwhile learnt from reliable sources that the Speaker might resign before the monsoon session of Parliament, tentatively scheduled between August 11 and September 5. “That was the Speaker’s earlier plan also. He may well resign before the monsoon session and after he returns from his Commonwealth Parliamentary Meet in Malaysia,” said sources. The meet is schedule to be held Kuala Lumpur between August 1 and 10.
