What is most surprising is Mayavati's decisive victory. No one quite saw that coming. It may actually be good for UP to have a single party govt rather than congress ruling by proxy under president's rule.
And as Rajesh pointed out, it appears that Brahmins voted as a block for Mayavati.
Very interesting implications for caste politics.
This will challenge the conventional wisdom that only groupings that vote as vote banks arre religious minorities or OBCs and dalits.
